This week, Art in the Park featured a new event: the Art Treasure Sale, and it was a smashing success! We had many fabulous people donate art pieces to the Treasure Sale, in addition to a number of pieces directly from the Art Gallery’s collection. We set up the paintings, sculptures, books, candles, and other creative pieces on tables and easels for guests’ perusal. There was a fantastic turnout, and we raised a lot of money for the Temiskaming Art Gallery!
Steve Benoit was playing last night, and we’re glad that so many people brought their own chairs, because there were not enough to go around! Steve played a ton of hits that had the crowd engaged and clapping along to the beat, and at the end of the night he was joined by his daughter Rose. When they sang together, they just sounded superb.
Instead of our regular barbecue, Zante’s Bar and Grill sponsored us with pulled pork on a bun, and that was definitely a hit. We sold a large volume of cold drinks too - the hot weather was just perfect for it. Our desserts - brownies and banana bread - were from the Meteor Café Bistro, and they were delicious.
Classic cars were once again at the event, with beautiful sleek designs parked next to the Harbour Front Pavilion for anyone to appreciate.
The Creative Crew tent had kids painting ladybugs and bumblebees that could be hung and spun. They could also paint whatever they wanted and take their creations home.
The major sponsor of the night was Zante’s Bar and Grill. Their donation of the pulled pork and buns was extremely generous, and helped ensure that Art in the Park stays a staple event in the community.
Our incredible volunteers helped to sell things at the Art Treasure Sale, served the pulled pork, and even manned the TAG table with the musician schedules and raffle tickets. We’d like to thank Réjeanne, Lise, Jacqueline, Therese, Dana, Matthew, Louise, Cal, Janet, Danielle, Donna, Alyssa, Dennis, Kathy, Michel, and so many others. They were a huge help and we could not have done this without them.
